About West Bend Water Softener Co.
Behind the trade name West Bend Water Softener Co. is ZeroGrain Water LLC, a Wisconsin company. The pages here are about one town's water: where West Bend's softener number comes from, and what it means for houses in the city and in the towns around it.
Call (262) 829-5961Mon to Fri, 7am to 5pmWhat we handle, and what the plumber handles
We handle the phone quote, the sizing, the equipment and the scheduling of the installation. The installation itself is handed to a plumbing contractor licensed in Wisconsin, since the softener's drain hookup is plumbing under state law.
There is no sales call at the house. The first person to visit is the plumber, on install day.
What you will not get from us
No in-home demonstration, no reverse-osmosis faucet sold without a softener, and no suggestion that a softener deals with bacteria or nitrate in a well, because it is not designed to. The one result this site talks about is hardness: your faucet gets retested until it reads zero.
Why West Bend has a site of its own
West Bend's water utility leaves hardness out of its annual report, and the number residents actually get comes from the sewer utility, which publishes 25 to 31 grains as the setting it wants and runs a chloride reduction program. A town whose softener number comes from the sewer side deserves its own explanation.
Wisconsin's 2026 estimate puts the city at 32,524 people, with about 11,800 more in the Towns of West Bend, Trenton and Barton around it, where private wells are common.
The city and the three towns around it
The City of West Bend, on its well-fed city system, and the three towns that ring it: the Town of West Bend, Trenton and Barton, where many homes run on wells of their own.
Common questions
Is this site run by the City of West Bend?
No. A private company runs it, and it speaks for neither the City nor its utilities. The figures it quotes come from the sewer utility's newsletter and the DNR's sampling records, both public.
